Meet Dr. Maples

Dr. Maples made the move from Southern Illinois to Southern California when he was 11 years old. Growing up with a father who was a Family Practice Physician (with really gross medical subjects discussed around the dinner table on a regular basis), both he and his brother had no choice but to follow in their father’s footsteps and become physicians, themselves.

Dr. Maples earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of California, Riverside, a Master’s in Biblical Studies from the International School of Theology, and his Doctorate from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in 1995. He then served as a resident physician and completed his internship and residency in Family Medicine at Downey Community Hospital.

Dr. Maples is Board Certified in Family Medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians, and is involved with the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.

When not in the office, Dr. Maples spends time with his wife, Tracy, and his daughter, Emily. He enjoys living in the Long Beach area, which his family moved to in 1993 when his wife took a job as a professor at California State University, Long Beach. He stays active with his church and enjoys researching his family’s extensive genealogy. His most famous relative is George Washington. He enjoys this hobby so much that he has helped many of his patients with their own genealogical research! He also enjoys traveling, among other places, to the United Kingdom and Hawaii. In fact, he’s almost always found wearing a Hawaiian shirt at the office.

His two poodles, William and Harry, enjoy morning jogs with Dr. Maples and provide lots of love and laughs for the family.
