ABOUT DR. MAPLES
Dr. Maples made the move from Southern Illinois to Southern California when he was 11 years old. Growing up with a father who is a Family Practice Physician (with really gross medical subjects discussed around the dinner table on a regular basis), both he and his brother had no choice but to follow in their father's footsteps becoming physicians.
Dr. Maples earned his Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of California, Riverside; a Master's in Biblical Studies from the International School of Theology, and his doctorate from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in 1995. Thereafter, he completed his internship and residency in Family Medicine at Downey Community Hospital.
Dr. Maples is Board Certified in Family Medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians, and is involved with the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.
When not in the office, Dr. Maples spends time with his wife, Tracy, and his daughter, Emily. He enjoys living in the Long Beach area, which his family moved to in 1993 when his wife took a job as a professor at California State University, Long Beach. He stays active with the YMCA, PTA, and church, and he also enjoys traveling to Hawaii and the United Kingdom. He's almost always found wearing a Hawaiian shirt at the office.
Dr. Maples' most "famous" familly member is actually his black standard poodle Guinivere. Guin starred last year in a Honda Civic commercial and has filmed a movie with Linda Hamilton. Her career has been possible because Dr. Maples' sister, Tammy, and her partner, Joe Camp, own and run Jungle Exotics a company that trains animals for movies and television. Recently, they own and have trained "Mr. Bigglesworth" (Real name: Ted NudeGent) the hairless Spinx cat from the "Austin Powers" movies.
